After 50 years of shooting in southern California, the 2017 Star Trek series is confirmed to film in Toronto later this year, according to Pop Goes the News.
While production is headed to Toronto for director Bryan Fuller’s latest Trek endeavour, this will be the second Star Trek production to be filmed outside the United States. Star Trek Beyond was shot in in Vancouver and Dubai in 2015.
Bryan Fuller is no stranger to shooting in Toronto. He did Hannibal in the city and will be working on American Gods this summer.
Detailed information about the unnamed Trek series is sparse, but rumours hint that it will be set in a timeline between the Undiscovered Country and TNG.
The show is set to air in January 2017.
