Some of Toronto’s top restaurants have been the ones that are new on the block. Diners have been taking over the city and if you’re the type of person who doesn’t take up an all-day breakfast opportunity when they see one, we can’t be friends. Here are some places to grab food for any meal of the day:
Harry’s Charbroiled is the place to be for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. This resto has been around for a while, but when the Petropoulos brothers handed the torch over to Grant van Gameren and Nate Young, it was totally transformed. This 60’s style diner has some classics on the menu as well as some modern nosh (unless avo-toast was invented back then). Feel the nostalgia at Harry’s A.S.A.P!
Yes, that’s vegan. This eatery opened late last year and it’s already a top spot in the city. Owner and executive chef, Doug McNish, is wowing everyone with his plant-based cuisine and making people think twice about the vegan lifestyle. He’s even managed to craft a vegan egg, runny yolk and all. You heard me. Go see it for yourself!
WHITE LILY DINER
Head to White Lily Diner if you’re feeling like some good quality, comfort food. This quaint spot has an elevated look but stays true to the old school diner life. Try any of their house-smoked meats when you get a dish with sausage or bacon and you’ll see what we’re raving about. Their English Breakfast is a must-try here.
If this isn’t the cutest place you’ve ever seen, I don’t know what would. Café CanCan‘s goal is to serve their guests low-key, yet elevated French cuisine — and they’ve nailed it. They’ve got your staple menu items and have taken them to new heights. Jam on toast with froie gras is a combination you need to introduce yourself too.
RISE AND DINE EATERY
Rise & Dine Eatery is taking over East York with it’s insane eggs benny options and other yummy creations. Not only is this place reasonably priced but the portions aren’t for the faint of heart. If you don’t believe me, try one of their jam packed waffles. You’ll thank me later.
