‘No sign’ of higher levels of COVID-19 infection among attendees at concert experiment in Spain

According to the BBC, researches that conducted an indoor concert experiment in Spain last month found “no sign” of higher levels of COVID-19 infection among the concertgoers.

The experiment saw 5000 attendees that tested negative for COVID-19 masking at the show, where Love Of Lesbian performed in Barcelona, but they were not required to socially distance.

Out of those 5000 attendees, just six people tested positive for COVID-19 within the 14 days of attending, which is half of the rate of infection for the greater population of the same age in Barcelona. Additionally, out of those six people, four of them were infected elsewhere.

“There is no sign that suggests transmission took place during the event,” infectious disease specialist Josep Maria Llibre explains.
