NXNE Announces First Round of Artists

Big changes were announced recently for NXNE, the annual Toronto festival held June 13-19th this year. Moving the main music hub away from Yonge and Dundas square to make room for their video game themed area, the new hub will take place in the Toronto Portlands.

The first wave of musical artists for NXNE’s Clubland series has been released today, including Kamasi Washington, The Joy Formidable, Screaming Females, Eagulls’ Moving Units, Pere Ubu, King Khan and The Shrines, Stonefield, The Hunna, Bertrand Berlin, The So So Glos, and The Big Ups.

As well, the festival shared news on special showcases, including a Quebec focused night at the Garrison with Bionic, USA Out of Vietnam and The Yardlets, plus a Billions Canada event featuring Cold Specks, DIANA, and Escondido at Lee’s Palace. In a press release, Michael Hollett, President and Managing Director of NXNE spoke of the annoucnement:

“We’re very excited to announce these first shows in our Clubland programming and look forward to making many more major announcements in NXNE programming in the next few weeks.”
