NXNE to return this summer, free applications for the festival now open

North by Northeast (NXNE) Music Festival is returning to Toronto this summer!

The beloved festival is set to return from June 14th to 19th, 2022. This year, NXNE will put renewed emphasis on showcasing emerging artists and supporting the Toronto live music scene. In fact, to make the festival as inclusive as possible, there will be no fees for musicians to apply this year.

“After two years of COVID it’s more important than ever to showcase emerging new musicians and to support the incredible live music scene of Toronto,” NXNE founder Michael Hollett explains. “It’s impossible to sincerely talk about inclusion and then have a financial barrier to apply to play. We want the best artists on our stages – regardless of the financial means of those performers.”

NXNE is set to showcase the best emerging artists both in Canada and from around the world. They’ll be hosting a series of gigs at live music venues across the city. Most of the showcases will boast a minimum of five acts, with low price admission or passes.

“We are also committed to keeping admission to the clubs low or even free. We want full rooms for the artists and the bar owners. We want new fans for the performers and big bar sales for the venues,” Hollett continues. “It’s time to have fun again and we hope everyone will be ready – and safe – by this summer.”

The lineup for NXNE has yet-to-be-announced, so keep your eyes peeled for that in the coming months.
