What happens when Tattoos become your ritual, your identity and your obsession? Most people would say that their after their first tattoo, it opened up the floodgates for more and more ink.
Indie88 listener Bailey had the opportunity to explore her own obsession, as the lucky winner of a tattoo from Seven Crowns Tattoo artist Rev Matt Ellis.
With support from the ROM’s exhibition Tattoos: Ritual. Identity. Obsession. Art., Bailey got an exclusive look behind the scenes at the Museum’s collections to inspire her new tattoo.
Checking out everything from ancient bones to space rocks, Bailey had the unique experience of seeing what the ROM keeps behind closed doors.
Tattoo artist Matt Ellis came along for the journey to better his understanding of where the concept of Bailey’s art would come from.
For her piece, Bailey decided on a fusion of several collection pieces she saw: a panda with an outer space background. We caught up with her and Matt Ellis at Seven Crowns Tattoo during her appointment and watched her idea come to life.
Be sure to check out the Tattoos: Ritual. Identity. Obsession. Art. exhibit at the ROM before it closes September 5th.
