Perfume Genius has shared a stirring remix of Charli XCX’s “Good Ones.”
Mike Hadreas has truly added his own twist to the CRASH lead single. He takes the upbeat, bubbly pop anthem and slows it way down into a dark, grungy single. With an industrial rock beat, the remix has a heavier, doom metal edge to it.
The remix adds a darker twist to the Charli XCX lyrics. Throughout the tune, a robotic Charli delivers lines like, “I want the bad ones, ’cause they’re all I know/ I always let the good ones go.”

In November, Charli XCX shared her Christine and the Queens and Caroline Polachek collaboration, “New Shapes.” “New Shapes” is definitely a bop you’ll find yourself revisiting over and over. Packed with synths and sugary instrumentals, this track tackles a more mournful theme. Lyrically, Charli XCX delivers lines like, “All night, all day, we can fall in love in new shapes, new ways/ When the morning comes, I’m sorry I stayed.”
“Good Ones” came out before that, and served as the first single from CRASH, which is out March 18th, 2022. Charli XCX collaborated with some big names on the record, including Rina Sawayama, A. G. Cook, the 1975’s George Daniel, and more. The press release for the new song says that Charli XCX “possessed and persuaded” the stacked guest list. She did this using her “femme fatale powers and a multitude of dark spells and curses. They will all remain locked in my basement forever.”
