Phoebe Bridgers took to The Stone Pony’s summer stage, where she played a cover of Bruce Springsteen’s “Stolen Car.”
The venue is a pretty legendary club, and it’s only natural that artists often pay tribute to The Boss when they play there. On Monday night (June 13th), during the encore, Bridgers softly started strumming along to “Stolen Car.”
Before she launched into the cover of The River standout, Bridgers explained that she was particularly inspired by Patty Griffin’s version of the tune.

Bridgers is no stranger to covering Bruce Springsteen. In fact, last time she was in Asbury Park in 2018, she covered “I’m On Fire.”
In addition to the cover of “Stolen Car,” Bridgers delivered a pretty stunning set, primarily made up of Punisher tunes.
Phoebe Bridgers has been quite busy as of late. Not only is she out on tour, but she recently shared a new single, “Sidelines.” The track appears in the new television adaptation of Sally Rooney’s hit novel, Conversations With Friends. “Sidelines” is more of a subtle sound than her Punisher tracks. With lush string arrangements and captivating, image-heavy lyricism, the track is quintessential Bridgers.
Lyrically, Bridgers delivers lines like, “Watch the world from the sidelines/ Had nothing to prove/ Now I know what it feels like/ To wanna go outside/ Like the shape of my outline.”
