Pkew Pkew Pkew share video for ‘Maybe Someday,’ announce new album ‘Open Bar’

Pkew Pkew Pkew have shared a video for their new single “Maybe Someday.” The track comes alongside the announcement of their new album, Open Bar, out May 13th via Dine Alone Records.

Jon Drew (Tokyo Police Club, Fucked Up, METZ) produced Open Bar, which was made with “songwriting guidance-and-support” from The Hold Steady’s Craig Finn. You can hear that influence on today’s release, “Maybe Someday.” Toronto punks Pkew Pkew Pkew deliver a guitar driven anthem with gritty vocal lines.

“This song is about sharing a bedroom with [guitarist] Ryan to save money on rent,” vocalist Mike Warne explains of “Maybe Someday.” “It worked for a few months because we both stayed at our partners’ houses, but when Ryan’s fiance moved to Edmonton, suddenly he was home all the time.”

“Since we didn’t have a hard deadline to finish, we felt a lot more freedom to take our time and mess around in the studio,” Warne says of the album. “Jon is the kind of producer that is down to try anything, so we had lots of fun playing with trumpets, old moog synths, glockenspiels.”

In addition to “Maybe Someday,” the album features titles like “Let The Bridges We Burn Light The Way,” Mr. Meowers,” and “Stick To Your Guns, Pookie.”
