Porches shares playful, frantic fifth album ‘All Day Gentle Hold !’

Aaron Maine is back with his fifth studio album as Porches, All Day Gentle Hold !

The new album is all about celebration. All Day Gentle Hold ! sees Porches channeling a harder, louder, shorter sound. Maine says that the album’s chaotic sound boasts “the most energetic, off-the-cuff moments, collaged together into the most captivating songs I could make.”

“I recorded this album in my room between October 2019 and April 2021,” Porches explains. “The world was flipped and I wanted to make something injected with as much love, urgency, and lust for humanity as I possibly could.”

Maine returns to his rock roots on this anthemic album, using the guitar as his main instrument. Porches’ new album is inspired by the pop punk and grunge bands like The Ramones and Nirvana.

All Day Gentle Hold ! features previously released singles “I Miss That,” “Okay,” “Lately,” and “Back3School.”

Porches made this frantic album for an overstimulated world. Clocking in at just 25 minutes, Maine channels his most nuanced, yet succinct songwriting yet. In fact, All Day Gentle Hold ! is his most playful release to date. He keeps things simple, while playing with new techniques that, when isolated, may seem strange. When put together, though, these techniques make this album one that could only have been created by Aaron Maine.

While the album is short and sweet, it leaves you wanting more in the best way possible. It may be over pretty quickly, but the songs will stay with you long after you finish listening. It may not be Porches’ most ambitious album in his catalogue, but it truly hones in on the best aspects of his sound.
