Porridge Radio cover Wolf Parade’s ‘You Are A Runner And I Am My Father’s Son’

Porridge Radio have shared a cover of the Wolf Parade classic, “You Are A Runner And I Am My Father’s Son.”

A few weeks back, the Brighton band shared a cover of the Shins’ “New Slang” for Sub Pop’s subscription Singles Club series. Now, we’ve gotten the second half of that release with the cover of Wolf Parade’s Apologies To The Queen Mary song. Porridge Radio’s cover of the Wolf Parade track is pretty gloomy and dark, with gritty vocals and a stripped back instrumentals.

Talking about the covers, frontwoman Dana Margolin explains:

“Sub Pop are a label I’ve loved for a long time, and when they asked if we wanted to release some songs with them this summer, I looked through their back catalog and chose 2 songs to cover that had a big impact on me as a teenager.”

Porridge Radio’s cover of The Shins’ indie rock classic is also a must-listen. The Brighton band put their own twist on the Oh, Inverted World track. The soft take leans into the dreamiest parts of the track, morphing it into a shoegaze anthem. The bedroom pop cover truly lets Porridge Radio’s signature style shine. It also serves as the perfect B-Side to their cover of Wolf Parade.

This round of Sub Pop Singles also featured two new songs from Washed Out. The songs are called “Sidney’s Lullaby” and “Miles’ Lullaby,” both named after frontman Ernest Greene’s sons.

Check out those songs below.
