Porridge Radio share video for new track ‘Back to the Radio,’ announce forthcoming album

Porridge Radio have shared a video for their new single, “Back to the Radio.” The song comes as part of the announcement of their forthcoming album, Waterslide, Diving Board, Ladder to the Sky, out May 20th via Secretly Canadian.

The new track is a powerful return for Porridge Radio. The cinematic tune slowly builds from simple guitar lines and sweet melodies into an explosive anthem. The accompanying video sees the band making their way through a stunning, surreal set as singer Dana Margolin sings along to the tune.

“‘Back to the Radio’ feels like a huge introductory hello or a big ceremonial goodbye,” Margolin explains of the track. “I wrote it at the end of 2019 when we were gearing up for the release of Every Bad and I felt like a lot of things were coming that I wasn’t sure I knew how to handle. The song grew out of a feeling of intense loneliness and being unprepared for what everybody was promising me was about to happen – and a strong desire to escape without knowing what I wanted to escape to. To me there’s a huge feeling of catharsis in this song, of letting go and letting it sweep you away.”

Waterslide, Diving Board, Ladder to the Sky was co-produced by Tom Carmichael, Margolin, and drummer Sam Yardley. Margolin says she wanted the band’s next album to be “stadium-epic–like Coldplay.”

You can really hear that sound on “Back to the Radio,” as Margolin sings of fighting for a one-sided relationship.
