Season 2 of Disney Plus’s popular Star Wars spinoff series The Mandalorian isn’t set to air until October, but pre-production for a third season is already underway, Variety confirms.
One source told Variety that series creator Jon Favreau has been “writing season 3 for a while,” and that the art department a Lucasfilm has been working on concepts “for the past few weeks.”

Both Mando and baby Yoda will be back for season 3, along with Giancarlo Esposito’s darksaber-wielding villain Moff Gideon. It has also been reported that Rosario Dawson will join the cast for Season 2 in a guest starring role as Star Wars: The Clone Wars character Ahsoka Tano.
Disney has two other Star Wars-related shows in the works with Ewan McGregor reprising Obi Wan Kenobi for a series, and a Cassian Andor series starring Diego Luna.
