What was to be a fruitful tour cycle for Calgary-based group Preoccupations has turned into an absolute nightmare that so many musicians before them have experienced.
Only a few days ago, the group were in Vancouver when a thief broke into their tour van and stole half of their equipment. According to a post on their social media, the group spent most of the day in East Hastings district searching for their stolen gear.
Spent the first half of today combing the back alleys and sidewalk shops of east Vancouver's Hastings and China town looking for our stolen gear. Our trailer was broken into and looted. Luckily less than half our gear was stolen and most of its replaceable although it still hurts. I just hope whoever's hands its in now they are shredding some serious fucking gnar. The show goes on ? tooonight in Seattle at Barboza doors at 8 we play at 10:15 W/ @moaningmusic #preoccupations #gnarbounty #rockviolation #easthastings #vancouver
Now, four days later the group experienced an even worse scenario: when in town for a show in San Francisco their tour van and entire gear trailer was broken into and stolen. In caption posted to Instagram, they wrote “The curse continues, our van and trailer was stolen. Everything is gone.”
There hasn’t been any official announcement, though according to the post “tour is over, the bounty no longer exists,” the band wrote. Preoccupations still have another 25 tour dates in the States and Europe left in their tour. They had been promoting their new album New Material, released this year.
Preoccupations haven’t included any information about the stolen vehicle, other than including a picture of the stolen trailer.
