Target’s recent bathroom choice policy has been making big waves in the news as of late. The company welcomes transgendered customers and employees to use the fitting rooms and restrooms that match their gender identity. This, believe it or not, angered a large amount of people who are now petitioning to boycott the department store.
The petition, created by an extremist Christian nonprofit known as the American Family Association (AFA), is said to have nearly 1 million pledges already.
The pledge says ridiculous things like:
“Target’s policy is exactly how sexual predators get access to their victims. And with Target publicly boasting that men can enter women’s bathrooms, where do you think predators are going to go?”
Samantha Allen of The Daily Beast is not putting up with the chauvinistic behaviour from this group. Allen wrote an article on all the other trans-friendly businesses these pledgers should boycott.

The 407 companies she mentions, which have all achieved a 100 per cent score on The Corporate Equality Index, include big corporations such as; McDonalds, Facebook, Twitter, Google, Apple, Coca-Cola, Anheuser-Busch, CVS, Ford, Toyota, GM, Nissan, Mastercard, AMEX, Sears, Ikea, Kraft, Kellogs, Sony and Disney – just to name a few.
