Purity Ring share video for new single ‘Graves,’ announce forthcoming EP

Canadian electro-pop outfit Purity Ring have announced their upcoming EP, Graves, out June 3rd. As part of the announcement, they’ve shared a video for the title track.

Made up of Megan James and Corin Roddic, Purity Ring are readying the follow-up to WOMB, which came out just last year. Today’s release sees the band channeling a different sound than last year’s one-off single, “soshy.” Where that sound had a darker sound, today release is bright and has a nearly EDM sound to it. Directed by James, the accompanying video boasts some haunting closeups of human cells.

“This song has been haunting us for 8 straight years so we’re very glad to let it be heard,” James explains of the track. “We hope it brings you as much joy as it has now brought us. Thank you for listening and please enjoy the beautiful music video about human cells.

Purity Ring began rolling out “Graves” two days ago through a website called purityring.gift. On the site, they’ve been allowing one fan to listen to “Graves” at a time, but now it’s been made widely available.

Last year’s release of “soshy” marked Purity Ring’s first release on their own label, THe Fellowship. Alongside the track, they shared a Carson Davis Brown-directed video, featuring artowrk by Megan James.

“A wraith to descend the summer stairs with,” James explains of the video, “Film by Carson Davis Brown, a visage under water and over the super 8. Featuring Doris in 1935.”
