The early 2000’s were a confusing time for everyone.
When you say 2002 out loud, it doesn’t seem like that long ago, but a lot has changed in the past decade and a half.
The world was still recovering from the major Y2K scare, the U.S was still under the care of George Dubya, the first ever episode of American Idol premiered, and Ja Rule was a thing. Avril Lavigne had just released her debut album “Let Go”, while P!nk and Eminem dominated the VMA’s.
While all of this tomfoolery was consuming the mainstream media, a little known band by the name of Arcade Fire was rocking out in a Montreal loft. The recently discovered footage features Win Butler and Regine Cassagne with former band members, Dane Mills, Brendan Reed and Myles Broscoe performing “Vampire/Forest Fire” live. The song would later go on to appear on the Canadian indie-rock band’s self-titled debut EP, which was released a year later, in 2003.
