Everyone Loves The Simpsons…
Every so often I come across something on the internet that feels… wrong. Just totally off. And I’m not talking about nasty porn or dark web or anything like that. I just mean things that people create to intentionally be unsettling that super-duper came through. The realistic Homer Simpson rendition by artist Miguel Vasquez is one of those things.
Everybody loves The Simpsons. America’s favourite cartoon family has become Canada’s favourite cartoon family and pretty much everybody else’s favourite family as well. You can’t quite put a finger on what makes them so hilarious and relatable, but creator Matt Groening really nailed it.
So why not just leave them alone? Why not allow them to live out their hysterical pretend lives in immortal, un-aging glory? Someone just had to go and create realistic versions of them, didn’t they?
… Until They Are “Brought To Life”
You know, this could have gone a lot of different ways. There could have been slightly euphemistic versions of The Simpsons that I could have gotten on board with. This, however… I don’t even know what to say.
Homer Simpson in real life, at least according to Vasquez, is downright gross. This is just one of a few versions that seem to range from moderately nasty to deplorable.
Did Homer really need stumps for legs? In some ways, it’s super awful, but it others, this artist has managed to do exactly what he sets out to do: create unsettling things.
This Realistic Homer Simpson Is The Stuff Of Nightmares
Interviewed by numerous different media outlets, Miguel Vasquez also creates other nightmarish characters from his digital studio.
Go over here to check out the rest of his work, and marvel at just how creepy and awful the characters of your childhood can be!
And The Rest Of The Family Isn’t Any Better
Wait for this one. He really took some creative liberty with the rest of the family as well.
So yeah. Have fun in your nightmares tonight!
