Red Hot Chili Peppers confirm they are ‘writing a new record’ with John Frusciante

This would mark their first new record with Frusciante since 2006

John Frusciante is back with the Red Hot Chili Peppers, but his return won’t be limited to live performances. In a new interview with Rolling Stone, drummer Chad Smith has revealed that the full band is currently “writing a new record.”

The interview sees Smith discussing Frusciante’s return to the band. “I was given strict orders for this interview: ‘DON’T TALK ABOUT THE BAND,'” Smith explained before launching into a spiel about where they’re at. “But, yes, John is back in the band, and everyone knows that. We’re psyched. The festivals are the only shows booked. For now, we’ll mostly be concentrating on new songs and writing a new record. We’re all real excited to make new music.”

This album will mark the Red Hot Chili Peppers’ first album with their on-again off-again guitarist since 2006’s Stadium Arcadium.
