After a long battle with drug and alcohol abuse, Scott Weiland has passed away at the age of 48.
Weiland, who was in Toronto this past week died in his sleep on his tour bus. Weiland fronted the hugely popular 90s grunge band Stone Temple Pilots and followed that up with a string of less successful projects including his solo work, Velvet Revolver, and Art of Anarchy.
The news broke this morning afterJane’s Addiction guitarist Dave Navvaro tweeted: “Just learned our friend Scott Weiland has died. So gutted, I am thinking of his family tonight,” which was promptly deleted NME reports. Weiland’s Facebook page confirmed the news early Friday Morning (December 4th).
