Taylor Hawkins, the drummer for Foo Fighters for 25 years, has died at the age of 50, according to a statement from the band.
Hawkins was in Bogota, Colombia, to perform with the Foo Fighters. Emergency services had responded to a call about a patient with chest pains in a hotel outside the city. Hawkins was unresponsive when responders attempted to give aid, and declared dead at the scene. No cause of death was given.
“The Foo Fighters family is devastated by the tragic and untimely loss of our beloved Taylor Hawkins,” the band said in a statement. “His musical spirit and infectious laughter will live on with all of us forever.”

Tributes have been pouring in from fellow musicians and fans.
“I’ll never forget Laguna Beach days when I was a trash man playing in a punk-rock band and you were playing with Alanis. You’d come watch me play in dive bars and be like, ‘Kid, you’re a star.’ And I thought you were crazy, but you gave me so much hope and determination,” Travis Barker wrote on Instagram.
