Rina Sawayama shares striking, industrial cover of Metallica’s ‘Enter Sandman’

Rina Sawayama has shared a striking cover of Metallica’s “Enter Sandman.”

Rina Sawayama truly adds her own twist to the track. While maintaining the original distinctive melody and gritty feeling, Sawayama makes the track her own. With industrial instrumentals and powerhouse vocal lines, get ready to hear “Enter Sandman” in a new light completely.

This cover comes as part of Metallica’s forthcoming star-studded covers album, The Metallica Blacklist. Out on September 10th, the 53-track album features “unique interpretations” of songs from The Black Album in honour of its 30th anniversary.

Profits from the song will be split between Metallica’s All Within My Hands Foundation and Positive East, which Rina Sawayama selected. Positive East works in HIV support and prevention.

Today, IDLES also shared a Metallica cover for the collection. The Bristol punks added their own twist to the 1991 track. The cover was produced by IDLES’ lead guitarist Mark Bowen.

Of course, IDLES rip through the single with their distinctive rowdy sound. Frontman Joe Talbot brings his distinctive growl atop driven guitars and unbelievable drum lines. This is “The God That Failed” like you’ve never heard it before, and it truly feels like an IDLES original.
