It has officially been confirmed that The Batman starring Robert Pattinson will NOT be another Bruce Wayne origin story.
The Hollywood Reporter confirmed that Pattinson’s Batman will be well into fighting crime in the movie, which is expected to be released in 2021. The report also states that director Matt Reeves reportedly cast Pattinson as Batman because he wanted the caped crusader to be specific to the age of around 30 years old.

Its also suggested that the upcoming film will see Batman battling against Catwoman and The Penguin, who haven’t been on screen together since the Tim Burton film Batman Returns.
“Obviously we’re not doing an origin tale or anything like that,” Reeves said in a past interview. “We’re doing a story that is definitively Batman though and trying to tell a story that’s emotional and yet is really about him being the world’s greatest detective and all the things that for me, since I was a kid, made me love Batman.”
