Robert Plant, Alison Krauss collaborate on new single ‘High and Lonesome’

Led Zeppelin’s Robert Plant and Alison Krauss have shared an all-new tune, “High and Lonesome.”

On their 2007 Grammy-winning album, Raising Sand, Robert Plant and Alison Krauss exclusively recorded covers. Now, on their forthcoming sequel, Raise the Roof, 1 of the 12 tracks is a new single. Co-written by Plant and producer T Bone Burnett, “High and Lonesome” is a bluesy, chugging tune.

The single sees Plant singing phrases like, “I must find my love” and “Does she still think of me.” Throughout the song, Krauss and Burnett deliver haunting backup vocals.

Raise the Roof is set for release on November 19th, and you can pre-order it here.

Raise the Roof is set to see Robert Plant and Alison Krauss covering tracks by Merle Haggard, The Everly Brothers, Anne Briggs, Allen Toussaint, and more. It will also boast the original song co-written by the duo, called “High and Lonesome.”

“High and Lonesome” serves as the follow-up to the duo’s cover of Randy Weeks’ “Can’t Let Go.” That song was made famous by Lucinda Williams.

“You hear something and you go ‘Man, listen to that song, we got to sing that song!’” Plant says of the album. “It’s a vacation, really – the perfect place to go that you least expected to find.”
