‘Sabrina the Teenage Witch’ goes horror in Netflix’s new ‘Chilling Adventures of Sabrina’

Heads up 'Riverdale' fans: the new show hits the streaming service on October 26

The tale of the young half-woman half-witch, Sabrina, has been retold through several different lenses including the Archie comic book, the groovy 70’s cartoon, the sassy Melissa Joan Hart 90’s sitcom, and now the outright horror story “Chilling Adventures of Sabrina.”

Riverdale creator, Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa, has taken the Archie Comics Sabrina and given her a dark and edgy twist as she takes on a devil-worshipping coven and a satanic patriarch. The new show “imagines the origin and adventures of Sabrina the Teenage Witch as a dark coming-of-age story that traffics in horror, the occult, and, of course, witchcraft,” Netflix explained in a press release.
