Sam the Record Man Sign To Go Up Near Yonge-Dundas Square

Vinyl-record lovers rejoice! Do you remember Sam the Record Man? Well, of course you do. Any true Torontonian will remember the brightly illuminated, kitschy sign a top of 347 Yonge St.

The infamous sign which was formerly speculated to go back to it’s original spot (right beside the newly created Ryerson Student Centre) will instead breathe new life a top of 277 Victoria St, right above Yonge-Dundas Square. In 2014, city council voted to move the sign to it’s new location on Victoria St.

Ryerson has chosen Sunset Neon to be the company in charge of installing the sign.

“We’re very thankful to the City of Toronto and the Sniderman family for their ongoing support and patience. We are all looking forward to the signs lighting up Toronto later this year,” Ryerson president and vice-chancellor Mohamed Lachemi said in a statement.

Ryerson began exploring options to resurrect the sign last year. The school is footing the bill to bring back the Toronto landmark.
