The jack-of-all-trades comedian Seth Rogen is taking on a new project by producing a horror apocalypse movie about a killer meme. Rogen and his production company Point Grey Pictures will work on Memetic, inspired by the BOOM! Studios comic of the same name by James Tynion IV.
The Memetic comic follows the story of the Good Time Sloth, a viral meme that eventually leads everybody who looks at it into a spiral of chaos and violence. Meanwhile, the main character, who is immune to the meme’s deadly powers because of his colourblindness, tries to navigate the post-apocalyptic world while searching for his boyfriend affected by the meme.
Lionsgate is in the final stages of picking up Memetic. Mattson Tomlin, the lead writer of the upcoming 2021 movie The Batman, is penning the Memetic adaptation.
There’s no word yet on a release date but with the comic’s hilarious and thrilling plot, this is definitely a movie to keep an eye out for.
