Occasional actor, full-time “artist” Shia LaBeouf has been making waves in the “art” community with his recent exhibitionist projects. Recently LaBeouf had a 72-hour stream set up as he watched all of his films in chronological order, which he called #ALLMYMOVIES. This weekend, the Transformers star set up a new project called #ELEVATE, where he stood in an elevator at Oxford University for 24 hours straight.
Standing in a tight-spaced elevator for 24 hours, the idea was to force the actor to have awkward social interactions with random strangers. There was one interaction that was especially uncomfortable, when a college student asked LaBeouf to punch him in the face.
The young man said he’s also a “performance artist,” and for his newest piece he needed the actor to punch him. When LaBeouf was reluctant to do it, the student told him not to “be a pussy,” saying a slap in the face would also do. You can tell he really didn’t want to, but he went through it, for the sake of “art.”
You can’t see the interaction happen, but in the clip in the player above you can certainly hear the slap. Enjoy.
