At 9:00 a.m. on the day of Donald Trump’s inauguration, Shia LaBeouf launched a live stream that will stream continuously for four years, while Trump is in office. It’s called “He Will Not Divide Us” and the purpose is for people to say those words in front of the camera, in protest of Trump’s divisive policies he’ll be implementing.
Inevitably, Trump supporters and neo-Nazis showed up at New York’s Museum of the Moving Image, where the live stream is set up, and decided to troll viewers and Shia himself. A large majority of these counter-protesters came from 4Chan, where people have organized.
One man appeared in front of the camera and said “we must secure the existence of the white people,” which got Shia himself really heated, as these white nationalist views are exactly the division he speaks of. He confronted the man by getting directly in his face and yelling into his ear “he will not divide us.” It was a tense few moments and looked like fists were going to be thrown. It ended with Shia chasing the man around the area, which he’s had to do a couple times already.
