Shia LeBeouf is Hitchhiking Across the Country because “Art”

The performance artist is taking to the streets for his latest project

Sometimes actor and full time “artist” Shia LaBeouf is back at it again. This time, he’s hitchhiking across the country in the name of art.

LeBeouf has done some pretty weird things to prove his status as a performance artist. There was, #ALLMYMOVIES, where he watched all of his movies for three consecutive days and invited anyone to join him. Then there was #ELEVATE, where LeBeouf stood in an elevator at Oxford University for 24 hours straight and ended up slapping someone in the face.

In their latest project, LeBeouf, along with his two collaborators Nastja Säde Rönkkö and Luke Turner, are traipsing across the USA. Where to you ask? Anywhere you want to take them. #TAKEMEANYWHERE has the guys tweeting out coordinates over the next month for strangers to randomly pick them up. The trio shared the project last week and are somewhere in the Colorado mountains at the moment. The “art installation” has some big backers too: it’s commissioned by Boulder Museum of Contemporary Art as part of MediaLive2016 and the Finnish Institute of London, and supported by Frame Contemporary Art Finland and Vice.
