“My grandmother was the original carrot cake lady. She carefully honed her carrot cake recipe over decades and sold her cakes out of farmers’ markets on the east coast. She was nicknamed ‘the carrot cake lady’ and she decided to take the title with her when she moved to Durham from Fredericton, New Brunswick. Friends and family kept requesting her delicious cakes, meaning that I grew up loving this cake and watching my grandmother bake.”
When the pandemic started earlier in 2020, The Carrot Cake Ladies started their business to honour their grandmother’s legacy and continue bringing people amazing carrot cakes. “It’s been incredible for us to create something and share our favourite dessert with everyone. We truly believe it’s the best carrot cake you’ll ever taste!”
The Carrot Cake Ladies accept orders online through social media, attend weekly farmers markets, and are available at local small businesses (MacMillans in Ajax and Tyrone Mills).
