Lindsey Jordan has shared a video for her new single as Snail Mail, “Ben Franklin.”
The new single comes from Snail Mail’s forthcoming album, Valentine, out November 5th via Matador. “Ben Franklin” is a lovelorn tune with a driven bassline and shimmering synths. In the song, Jordan sings of a lingering heartbreak that won’t come to an end. The accompanying Josh Coll-directed video sees Snail Mail donning a giant python around her neck around. Throughout the clip, Jordan plays Nintendo 64 with friends and dances along to the tune.
“I wanted to sonically and lyrically get out of my comfort zone with ‘Ben Franklin,'” Jordan explains. “It felt only right that the visual accompaniment should include dancing in front of a camera and holding a 10 foot snake close to my face.”

The forthcoming record was co-produced by Jordan and Brad Cook. Valentine explores themes of romance, heartbreak, blood, sweat, and tears. Snail Mail perfectly balances melodrama and camp on the forthcoming 10-track album.
“Ben Franklin” follows the previously released title track, “Valentine.”
“I wanted to take as much time as possible with this record to make sure I was happy with every detail before unleashing it unto y’all,” Jordan explains. “Referring to the process as the deepest level of catharsis and therapy I have ever experienced would be a huge understatement. Valentine is my child!”
