July Talk, PUP, Weaves Among SOCAN Top Emerging Songwriter Nominees

Vote for your favourite song now

Each year SOCAN nominates a group of artists for the coveted Emerging Songwriter prize.

The award is given to the Canadian artist with the best songs from the past year. The winner takes home a $10,000 cash prize as well as some pretty sweet gifts.

10 artists are chosen by two independent panels of Canadian music scene experts that they believe “represent the most creative and artistic work by emerging songwriters in Canada over the past year.” One opanel nominates English songs and the other French, welcoming artists from all genres.

Right now the second part of the process is active, when voting opens to the public. Music fans can vote for their favourite song. If you want to vote, hurry because voting ends this week! For more info, check SOCAN’s website here.
