Sophie Allison has returned with an animated video for her new single as Soccer Mommy, “rom com 2004.”
Last year’s color theory made it onto our Best Albums of 2020 list. Now, Soccer Mommy is back with a new one-off single. The gloomy track was produced by Grammy nominated producer and songwriter BJ Burton.
“I wrote this song a while back and made a poppy demo for it,” Allison explains. “Then I told BJ to destroy it.”
The track comes accompanied by a 3D animated video from Fustic Studio. The eye-catching clip follows a vampiric Mii-style version of Allison through a futuristic city.

The new tune follows the release of “Kissing In The Rain.” That rack was made for the Dark Nights: Death Metal soundtrack.
“Kissing In The Rain” revolves around Soccer Mommy’s quintessential gloomy, melancholic vocal lines. It also boasts guitars and driven drums. Soccer Mommy’s lyricism truly shine on this track, as she delivers lines like, “I’ll be like everybody else is/ I can play it safe/ Save the kissing in the rain/ If it means I’m all you ever wanted to find.”
Soccer Mommy is set to play Montreal’s Fairmount Theatre on September 25h and Toronto’s Phoenix Theatre on September 26th. Both shows are with support from Squirrel Flower.
