Stream Fucked Up’s Ambitious New Record ‘Dose Your Dreams’

Toronto-based punk heroes have delivered one of the year's best

You could be forgiven if you dismissed someone outright 17 years ago for telling that that Fucked Up’s fifth full-length studio album would be genre-spanning double LP that incorporates elements of electronica, disco, shoegaze, and power-pop.

Dose Your Dreams is the band’s most ambitious effort yet. It’s not so much a departure from Fucked Up’s hardcore roots as it is the culmination of something that they’ve been building towards for the last decade-plus.

Frontman Damian Abraham’s thunderous growl is present for roughly two-thirds of the record, but is by no means noticeably absent. You’ll be hard-pressed to find a record this year that pushes the boundaries of expectation while also sounding so cohesive.
