Stream Idles’ rollicking new album ‘Ultra Mono’

A soundtrack for the revolution

Bristol’s Idles have returned with a new 12-song collection of songs that showcase the band’s implacable positivity, driving headlong into themes of the moment ranging from inequality, sexism, and self-empowerment.

It’s no simple task to flaunt earnest messaging while maintaining the often punishing aesthetic that Idles remain grounded in, yet the band’s latest release, Ultra Mono, accomplishes exactly that.

The band retained the production services of Nick Launay and Adam ‘Atom’ Greenspan, who worked on their 2018 record Joy as an Act of Rebellion. Ultra Mono features contributions from Jesus Lizard frontman David Yow, Jehnny Beth, and Jamie Cullum.
