James Blake has finally released Assume Form, his highly anticipated follow up to 2016’s The Colour in Anything.
The dreamy new record is full of a slew of guest features including André 3000, Moses Sumney, Travis Scott, Metro Boomin, and Rosalía. Assume Form maintains Blake’s distinctive moody sound, but in the most accessible way to date. Instead of an album full of confessional break up ballads, he’s moved toward more upbeat, love-filled, pop-infused tunes.

Blake has a complete tonal shift on this record, moving from his pinned “sad boy” title, Blake is able to reach new heights with a diverse set of calculated, yet varied tracks. He’s much more clear-headed and focused in on this record as he sings and produces with a sort of new-found clarity.
