Stream: Julia Stone, Kurt Vile, The National, more release ‘Songs For Australia’ charity covers album

Proceeds will go to several bushfire and climate charities

In a long-awaited project to raise money for bushfires and climate charities in Australia, Julia Stone has released Songs For Australia, a charity covers album featuring artists like Kurt Vile, The National, Paul Kelly and more.

On the album, various Australian and international artists cover classic Australian songs. Kurt Vile covered Nick Cave’s “Stranger Than Kindness” and The National did a cover of INXS’ “Never Tear Us Apart.”

Other contributions include Damien Rice’s cover of “Chandelier” by Sia, Joan as Police Woman covering Gotye’s “Heart’s a Mess,” and Martha Wainwright taking on Nick Cave’s “Ship Song.”

A vinyl and CD version of the album are expected to arrive in June.
