Stream: King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard drop wonderfully quirky new record ‘Fishing For Fishies’

A widely varied new record from the Australian psych rockers

Following the release of singles “The Bird Song,” “Boogieman Sam,” “Fishing For Fishies,” and “Cyboogie,” King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard have just dropped their highly varied and wonderfully quirky new record, Fishing For Fishies.

The Australian psych rockers’ new album moves from playful, bouncy tunes like the opening title track to cult-like bangers like the closing track, “Cyboogie.” With layered blues and rock-based instrumentals, dynamic drum beats, and silly, lighthearted lyrics, this album will definitely put a smile on your face.

“We tried to make a blues record,” frontman Stu Mackenzie explains in a press release. “A blues-boogie-shuffle-kinda-thing, but the songs kept fighting it – or maybe it was us fighting them. Ultimately though we let the songs guide us this time; we let them have their own personalities and forge their own path. Paths of light, paths of darkness. This is a collection of songs that went on wild journeys of transformation.”
