While on his North American tour back in September, Pope Francis announced that he’d be releasing a pop-rock album (yes, that’s right the Pope) called Wake Up! Go! Go! Forward!
An eleven-track, hybrid album aims to speak out against fundamentalism in the Church and inspire positive change. With a mix of both pop-rock and classic hymns, the album combines modern sounds with eleven speeches made by the Pope, read in Italian, Spanish, English and Portuguese.
Produced by Believe Digital Recordings, part of the proceeds from Wake Up will be donated to a refugee support fund. It’s available now via iTunes, and below to stream.
This comes shortly after Pope Francis “Cancelled” Christmas in light of the recent attacks in Paris, Beirut and the downed Russian airplane, calling the ceremony a “charade” in the midst of such atrocities.
