It seems appropriate that Ryan Adams released an early stream of his new record a couple days ahead of its official release this Friday, seeing as it’s Valentine’s Day.
Prisoner is a gut-wrenching collection of songs written around and after his recent divorce from Mandy Moore. If heartbreaking track titles like “Do You Still Love Me,” “To Be Without You,” and “Broken Anyway” don’t send a message as is, the songs will surely paint a picture of the desolation he experienced.
“I think the theme of this record is that we’re all prisoners of some desires,” Adams told NME. “The very things we love are the things that hold us hostage and keep us trapped.”
