Stream: Sleater-Kinney release new St. Vincent-produced record ‘The Center Won’t Hold,’ drop new video for ‘Love’

An 11-track album and a video that celebrated their fans

Sleater-Kinney have made their return today with their new record, The Center Won’t Hold, and a fan-celebrating video for “Love.”

The new 11-track album was produced by Annie Clark, also known as St. Vincent, and comes packed with previously released tracks like “Can I Go On,” “The Center Won’t Hold,” “Hurry On Home,” and “The Future Is Here.” “We’re always mixing the personal and the political but on this record, despite obviously thinking so much about politics, we were really thinking about the person – ourselves or versions of ourselves or iterations of depression or loneliness – in the middle of chaos,” frontwoman Carrie Brownstein explains in a statement.

In addition to the album, Sleater-Kinney have dropped a music video for “Love,” which comes packed with Polaroid images collected from fans with the lyrics scrawled over top. The band had asked fans to submit pictures that “celebrate your body as a means of resistance.”
