Stream: Stars share new track ‘Are You With Me’

A sentimental ballad about Canadian legend Gord Downie

Throughout the past few months, Stars have been releasing one-off tracks including “Ship To Shore” and “One Day Left.” Today, they’ve rounded it out with the haunting ballad, “Are You With Me?”

The Canadian indie pop outfit reunited with Broken Social Scene’s Kevin Drew, who produced the track. Part of the song was inspired by Canadian legend Gord Downie, who died last year after a lengthy battle with brain cancer.

“The words to this song came about after Torq spent one liquidy night sending text messages to Gord’s old cell phone number,” the band explained in a statement. “It’s very difficult not to miss that guy, and sometimes you just want to send a message into the ether and hope he receives it.”

Listen to the sentimental ballad below.

You can catch Stars at the Danforth Music Hall on December 13th.
