After releasing an accompanying short film at the beginning of the week, The National have finally dropped their lengthy, dynamic new album I Am Easy To Find.

The new record opens with previously released single “You Had Your Soul With You,” making for a frantic, skittering, and shimmery opening to the hour long album. As the album progresses, it sinks further and further into that quintessential melancholy the indie giants so frequently offer up, as they truly allow themselves to delve into gloomy, emotive instrumental lines and heartwrenching vocals.

I Am Easy To Find recalls the likes of 2017’s Sleep Well Beast as the band continue to pursue their search for meaning in today’s peculiar landscape. What makes this album so refreshing is that Berninger’s distinctive crooning baritone comes accompanied by a variety of female voices on the new album, with Gail Ann Dorsey, Kate Stables, Sharon Van Etten, Lisa Hannigan, Eve Owen, Pauline de Lassus, and the Brooklyn Youth Choir lending their vocals to the timely tracks.
