SZA is reportedly set to make her big screen acting debut alongside Euphoria star Chloe Cherry in a new film called Tuna Melt.
Tuna Melt is likened to “an updated Pulp Fiction meets High Fidelity,” according to Deadline. Written and directed by Eddie Huang, the film will be his second movie following his directorial debut, Boogie. Huang is also set to star in the movie, playing the lead role of a hitman, who meets the love of his life.
SZA will play the role of Huang’s love interest, but no information about Cherry’s role has been revealed.
Produced by Scooter Braun and James Shin for SB Projects, Tuna Melt does not yet have a release date. Aaron Ryder and Andrew Swett will also be producing for Ryder Picture Company alongside Huang. Scott Manson will be an executive producer.
Eddie Huang is a restaurateur-turned-writer. His memoir Fresh Off The Boat was turned into the titular ABC sitcom. He then had his directorial debut with his basketball film, Boogie. Now, he’s got another project on the go with Tuna Melt.
Back in June, SZA shared 7 new tracks as part of a fifth anniversary deluxe edition of CTRL.
All 7 new tunes were recorded during SZA’s CTRL era. Some of the songs have been floating around online, while others are completely new. The new deluxe edition features an alternate version of the Travis Scott collaboration, “Love Galore,” alongside “2AM,” “Miles,” “Percolator,” “Tread Carefully,” “Awkward,” and “Jodie.”
“Spring cleaning old thoughts,” SZA tweeted. “Everything made in 2014-2016 /17 … not new lol to be absolutely clear.”
