Taika Waititi is currently in talks to develop new ‘Star Wars’ movie

After directing the final episode of 'The Mandalorian'

Director Taika Waititi is currently in talks to develop a new Star Wars movie, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The discussions are currently in the earliest phases, and very little is known about the forthcoming project. Waititi joined the Star Wars expanded universe last year by voicing the IG-11 droid in The Mandalorian, and even directing the first season’s final episode. While Waititi hasn’t confirmed or denied the reports, he acknowledged them by tweeting out the cover art for Fleetwood Mac’s Rumours.

After Waititi’s experience with the show, Lucasfilm was reportedly pleased, and is eager to give Waititi more responsibilities in the Star Wars franchise.
