The internet is so freaking cool sometimes.
I mean yeah, it can be brutal and cause us to compare ourselves to others, etc. However, it also allows so many people to do such neat things. From these people, we can all learn so much. And major bonus: So much of the content is totally free!
Take John Malecki, for example. The dude is so animated and passionate. He helps his viewers ‘make blue collar cool again’. With tutorials on everything from simplifying your toolkit to making a soundproof room, his YouTube videos are super informative, accessible, and genuinely fun to watch. His Instagram is also really entertaining and helpful.
Meet John Malecki: The Impossible Designer
Once Covid hit, all of us were looking for ways to make our homes more functional. Enter woodworker and creator John Malecki. Using inspiration from a fellow YouTuber, he took a crack at the unique design of a table that totally defies logic.
And while it’s not a glass table with a cat on it, it’s one of the coolest tables you’ll see today, for sure.
These Floating Tables Defy Logic and Gravity
Using a combination of laminated wooden boards and crystal-clear acrylic, he managed to make a table that looks like it’s floating in air. The result? A super cool furniture optical illusion… as well as a piece of inspiring artwork.
There are subtleties to this particular floating coffee table. Lots goes into making it look like it’s actually defying the laws of nature. John breaks down the step-by-step of it all in his YouTube video, which has nearly two million views.
How Is The Floating Illusion Created?
So how exactly is this amazing, impossible table created?
By combining laminated wood boards and transparent clear acrylic, you can give things the look of floating. It’s a process though, and it won’t necessarily be “quick or easy”.
However, Mr. Malecki does an excellent job showing how you could create a floating desk, or a floating bedside table. Any kind of table, really. All you need to do is check out his video, follow the steps, and be prepared to amaze your guests and your cat.
