The Cranberries Singer Dolores O’Riordan’s Death Ruled a ‘Tragic Accident’

An inquest at Westminster Coroner’s Court has revealed that the Cranberries singer Dolores O’Riordan died by drowning after drinking an excessive amount of alcohol in her hotel bathtub. O’Riordan was in London at the time of her death for a short recording session.

The coroner formally ruled O’Riordan’s death a “tragic accident,” the BBC reports. O’Riordan, who was 46, had battled physical and mental health problems over parts of her career. She was found in her hotel bathtub on January 15, with miniature bottles of alcohol and a bottle of champagne in the room.

“There’s no evidence that this was anything other than an accident,” Coroner Shirley Radcliffe said, the Canadian Press reports.
