Last year The Dears released the second volume of their Times Infinity album. It’s their seventh album since emerging from the prolific early 2000’s Canadian indie scene, which also spawned bands like Arcade Fire and Broken Social Scene. The Montreal-based duo of singer-guitarist Murray Lightburn and keyboardist Natalia Yanchak carry on their tradition of romantic themes in their songwriting: unconditional love, longing, and a debilitating fear of loneliness. Times Infinity Volume Two follows up on 2015’s Volume One which Natalia describes as “utterly chill while staying true to the band’s tradition of embracing our refined yet sloppy roots.”
The duo visited us to perform two songs from the album live in the Collective Arts Black Box.
