A new 8,000-square foot “culinary workshop” called Drake Commissary will be opening its doors to Toronto in the Junction Triangle. The new Commissary will be located at 128 Sterling Rd., a space easily missed in a sea of factory buildings that carries a unique history of its own.
Located across the street from the Museum of Contemporary Art and neighbour to Henderson Brewing, 128 Sterling Rd. has been known for being rapper Drake’s first recording studio, as well as a place that housed art galleries and other artist events. It has also been used as a space for paintball, gymnastics, and an axe-throwing club.
Now, the Drake will be honouring the building’s history by turning it into a bakery, bar, and larder with an emphasis on community and culture. The Drake Commissary is scheduled to open this Spring.
